Using the Financial Capability Programme
FAQ 11 How do
I use the KS4 Financial Capability Programme?
The educational programme is structured into 5 Modules (see Course
Documentation) and can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Teachers
have complete control over which modules pupils can have access to and
when they can access them.
This means if you are in complete control of your timetable. If you
want pupils to complete work at home, they can do. If you want to cover
Financial Capability cross curricula in Maths, Business or PSHE you
can still use Money Maestro to do so consistently, in each subject.
The Financial Capabilty course is delivered entirely online, ideally
to individual pupils. Getting Started with Money Maestro is quick and
simple: completed in 3 simple steps:
1. Create Teacher Accounts
This will give the Teachers you register their own private area in the
Money Maestro Website, accessed from the Home Page using a unique Username
and Password generated when their account is created.
2. Create and Timetable Classes
Using their Private Area, Teachers can Create Classes of Pupils and
Timetable them to Start and Finish at a time and date decided by the
Teacher. Only between the Start and Finish times will pupils have access
to the course modules.
On a lesson finishing, any results from assessments are captured and
delivered directly to the Teacher's individual Private Area.
3. Distribute Usernames and Passwords and Begin!
When created, Pupils will be generated a unique Username and Password.
Simply give this to them and direct them to login on www.money-maestro.co.uk.
When they log in they will be presented with all timetabled lessons
available.
Pupils then simply click on the appropriate lesson and begin!

FAQ 12 What
are the system requirements?
Money Maestro uses the Adobe Flash Player to deliver its interactive
educational games and activities. Each computer must have the Flash
Player installed (preferabley the latest version) to display the lessons.
Flash Player is FREE software, available from Adobe,
if you do not already have the player installed on your computer, go
to the site to download the latest Flash
Player.

FAQ 13 Are
there loading times for the lessons?
All financial capability lessons have been designed to load instantly,
with no waiting times. If you have a good broadband connection this
should be the case, however it is possible the flash will take a few
seconds to load on occasion.

FAQ 14
How many teachers can teach the programme?
Your school can register 10 teachers in the School Master Account.
If you require more teachers there is an additional charge of £9.99
per teacher.

FAQ 15
How many pupils can use the programme?
Your pupil numbers are unlimited so you can register your entire KS4
year groups to use the programme. We assume that each school will register
a maximum of 250 pupils. You can register more than this, but under
our Fair Usage Policy you
will be required to provide evidence of greater pupil numbers.

FAQ 16
What are Additional Teacher Accounts?
Additional Teacher Accounts allow your school to register more than 10 Teachers in your School account.
Each additional account costs 9.99 and has exactly the same access as any other teacher account.
The additional accounts that you purchase will be available in your account until your school's subscription expires.
You will need to purchase the additional accounts again on renewal of your subscription.

FAQ 17 What ability
level is the programme aimed at?
We intend that the programme provides learning access to all abilities.
The delivery of information is structured so that further help is available
when it is needed by the pupil: thus the lesson is unencumbered by excess
information on screen, allowing pupils to advance at their own learning
level. Pupils are also provided with explanation and instruction throughout
the programme, and teacher support is provided by Teacher Notes.
All together this should provide enough support to deliver a Finance
Education to all abilities.
However as this is a course in Finance, a basic grasp of Maths is required
and in particular, pupils should understand percentages.

FAQ 18 Will Pupils get confused
with Jargon?
Financial terms are used throughout the course to expose pupils to
the words they will hear in the real world. However, to add to their
learning experience, a full Glossary of terms is provided throughout
the programme.
The Glossary has been designed to fit seamlessly into the lessons,
allowing pupils to access explanations of terms they are unfamiliar
with but not slow them down by explaining the ones they already understand.

FAQ 19 How long can we
use it for?
Your subscription lasts for 12 months from the date of purchase. After
12 months you will need to renew your subscription.

FAQ 20 How long will
it take to teach?
We recommend you allow between 4 to 6 hourse to complete the course, depending on pupil ability.

FAQ 21 How
do we assess pupils learning?
Pupils are assessed at the end of each module by multiple choice assessments.
The results of these are automatically marked, captured and delivered
directly to the teacher at the end of each lesson.
These assessments have been written in relation to the content of the
programme by the authors of the course: experienced in both finance,
and education. They provide a solid measure of learning that teachers
can use to monitor individual, and class progress.

FAQ 22 Do I
need any experience or knowledge to teach this?
No, Money Maestro's KS4 Financial Capability Programme has been written
and delivered by experts to take the pressure off teachers. We understand
everyone has personal experience in this subject however; these experiences
may not be the best foundations for teaching Finance.
We have adapted the principals of Corporate Finance to provide unprecedented
levels of financial education which have never been available before
in Consumer Finance.
These will expand pupils understanding of money and how it works and
most importantly, develop their decision making skills

Financial Capability Programme Course Content
FAQ 25 What makes
Money Maestro's Programme special?
The content we provide for your school is based on the principles of
Corporate Finance that have been used for decades by businesses and
taught for decades in business schools.
We have adapted these to fit to the consumer rather than the corporate,
and aid decision making on a day to day basis.
Whilst this may sound complicated, we have managed to remove all complexity
and deliver the key messages in a simple, straight forward, easy to
understand way.
We hope that these principals will be adopted by millions who wish
to manage their money properly for a brighter, wealthier future.

FAQ 26
What are the principals of Corporate Finance?
These are the laws which govern the way finance is handled at the corporate
level. They help businesses make financial decisions which are in line
with their shareholders goals, principally to maximise wealth.

FAQ 27 What principals
has Money Maestro adapted?
Money Maestro has successfully adapted and delivered the following
principals in the KS4 Financial Capability Programme:
The Time Value of Money
The Net Present Value Rule
Opportunity Costs
Risk and Return
Asset Allocation
Agency Problems
Credit Risk
We are currently working on adapting more principals of Corporate Finance
for our Future Products!
FAQ 28 What does
the Financial Capability Course cover?
The course content and documentation are available to view before
sign up.

FAQ 29 What will
pupils learn?
In the KS4 Financial Capability Programme pupils will learn how money
behaves over time and how the correct management of money can benefit
them in the future. They will be taught how to make objective decisions
and, rather than tell them how they should spend their money, they are
taught WHY they should manage their money.
This gives them the freedom to decide how they want to spend their
money, but shows them all the options and consequences so they are fully
aware how their decisions affect their future.

FAQ 30 Is
this the right material to be teaching pupils?
Absolutely, because Money Maestro is based on sound principals of Corporate
Finance. These principals are the fundamentals behind the way businesses
manage money, and by adapting them to suit the Consumer, we can provide
a solid and practical decision making education that works.
This education will give pupils the necessary knowledge and decision
making skills to manage their money successfully into the future. These
principals do not change over time and are not subjective, so they apply
to every situation all of the time. This will allow pupils to carry
them forward into the future knowing they can use them to successfully
manage their finances.
